ART THAT REPRESENTS OUR NATURAL RESOURCES, FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO THE SEA
“It is my intention that my artwork speaks to your heart like a close friend, a close friend that whispers remember this place.” – RoseLynn
My Inspiration
The Inspiration behind My Art
Who is it or What is IT? People ask me this question all
the time and naturally they are not getting the answer they want or they
wouldn’t keep asking? I can say my inspiration constantly changes and is
in flux. And as it stems from both the written word and spoken word,
below are four books that helped me turn my world upside down and invite art in.

I purchased the tenth Anniversary Edition and this is a workbook to unblock. With the opening line we are reminded that as artists we are “visionaries,” routinely and with every step having the inspiration to create our market.
Cameron offers insight into the healthy relationship between artists and the “Great Creator”: aka “good orderly flow-God-Goddess-Universe-or higher vibration” that guides us. This book includes tips from her journey, 10 basic principles to numerous quotes from other artists on this energy called “ flow.” Critical components propel the reader from chapter to chapter: the weekly exercises you must do for the book to be effective, the necessary contract you write with yourself, the morning “ brain dump ” (3 pages you must write) and the artist’s date you set with yourself. Not a shallow book to merely think about. Your results are based solely on you doing these things and abandoning your censor telling you it is not possible. This book was a springboard for me (in 2002) to exit corporate marketing and the job responsibility that had me in auto-pilot to begin to live for myself and create a new reality, where I was in control.

Several of us had the opportunity to hear the frank, basic nuts-n-bolts wake-up style presentation Paul Dorrell gave in Charlotte: his take on living a fuller life, “living as an artist can”, if you decide to push your limits and perhaps, follow your dream?
In his guidebook, “Living the Artist’s Life” Dorrell proposes this challenge for both the artists and non-artists, and he chronicles his personal journey as artists-novelist, gallery owner and art consultant, in part memoir and part how-to fashion.
He reminds us obsessively of the need for basic tools: blind perseverance, hard work and stick-with-it-ness. Using storytelling drama, he addresses ways to feed your art, keep your bearings straight and handle difficulties. Work, he drives home as an insatiable appetite of drive that when done correctly you need to FEEL!
He recommends risks and gambles, reminds us to run by our own clock and he addresses practical information not taught in school. He also warns about the risks not worth taking. If you think there’s this little man living in your head when Dorrell says, “ Teach yourself to deal,” there is. It’s his conversational tone and 6th sense on what to do and what to avoid while living a creative life.
Dorrell steers the artist through challenging topics such as depression, neurosis, snobbery or “wasted intelligence” to more helpful topics such as resumes, bios, portfolios, pricing and representation, and lastly, what to do once your there.

A collection of stories, passages, quotes, antidotes, lessons and tips which reinforce that positive thoughts are not only attributes worth catching but the “everything” that affects our spirit. With regularity, Lunden shares positive reinforcements she used to replace doubt (saved bits of inspiration from diverse sources) which she kept in a personal journal, while experiencing a transition in her life. This book is proof in itself, that the result of affirmations once recorded begin to become- no longer dreams. A quick read if you need to call in an army of positive reinforcement.

“The Power of Kabbalah:

If you choose to wake-up and live on the edge of consciousness, this book will help you recognize some objects which you cannot see or touch. To my amazement, I learned that we always “desire” something and that we are always in motion. (I always thought I could tell when I was “resting” in the process, but after reading this I am to ponder if I am “in” the process in the first place, when think I am?) According to Kabbalah, found in this “seeker” characteristic lies our power, and is what makes us tic, aka: our desire for continual happiness. That would be true. This book helps me with my art.
A great portion focuses on “Light and the force of Intuition,” the magic that attracts the right people and the right opportunities into our lives. Berg advises on how to keep the Light on, and the answer lies in lifting the “curtain that divides reality into the 1% versus the 99%.” He explains, we are too often just content with the tip of the iceberg, the 1%. Greatness taps into the 99% or quantum world. Nuff said, if you want to abandon your shadow and get out of your own way.
